Paper Faces (Working Title)
Handmade Cast Paper Torched in a Bronze Mold,
8' x 9'
The structural basis of this construction is a grid and the classic game called fifteen square. The grid format forces the comparison of varied shapes, texture and color. It confronts the veiwer with the void and asks, what symbol or who is missing?
Hand made paper pulp sheets are carefully stippled onto the positive side of bronze mold with a stencil brush. Then the mold is assembled and torched with a propane flame to dry the paper.
